Three different instant treasure hunt and will be using it again

Nikki, I have made three different treasure hunts and they all went great! It was my step daughter?s birthday last weekend and her, my nephew and some neighbor kids went running around the house from clue to clue. They had a lot of fun. I will be using it in the future! Thank you for everything.

Smart 10yr olds have fun with Treasure Hunt

Dear Nikki,

Yes, we played the Instant Treasure Hunt twice with a group of 10 year olds. They were so smart that they breezed through most of the clues, but they enjoyed it!

Thanks for the fun!

Pirate treasure hunt for sailors

Nikki,

I appreciate your follow up.

I am thinking of using the treasure hunt in a weekend of events during our Island Packet Sailboat Rendezvous. We are the Island Packet dealer for Florida and the Caribbean and every year we host a rendezvous for all the owners in the area. The weekend includes cocktail party, awards banquet, dinner and dancing, seminars. Etc. This is my first year to be in charge of this event and I am a bit overwhelmed with everything I have to get done.

I am thinking of using the treasure hunt on Saturday when we have a sailboat race, however, not everyone wants to participate in the race. I am using the game to fill some of the time for those who choose not to be in the race. To make things easier for me I am considering doing away with the combination portion of the game. I thought I could make it part of the rules that they cannot put the pieces of the puzzle together to determine the clue until they have collected all six pieces.

I liked the ideas for the tasks/challenges you sent with the game. Since we are a sailboat group, I am trying to come up with ideas centered around pirates or nautical things.

Treasure hunt to be used for team building next year

Hi Nikki, we completed the treasure hunt on Saturday. I modified the game to suit the venue and the crowd as we had 15 teams participating in the hunt. Contestants had a fun time. I will be fine tuning the game mechanics to cater for a team building crowd for January.

Treasure hunt planner was user friendly

We had our treasure hunt Sat night. It was great. The students enjoyed it and so did the adults that were working the different stations. I was so relieved to have something already complete and ready to use. It was user friendly. We changed the font and copied it onto brown aged paper and it looked so real. We had middle school age and college age. They all enjoyed it. We had the stations set up among a pirate town and they had to go through the town to complete. We used it to eliminate the teams to two and the two completed a treasure hunt that was extra. Thank you for such a good product.

Scout camp scavenger hunt

It was last weekend and I got some compliments on it. I used some of your ideas and also incorporated some landmarks of the camp we were in and everyone seemed to have a good time.

We had a Scavenger hunt around our Scout camp. I incorporated finding things with facts about camp so the kids had to visit various areas of camp they may not usually visit. They seemed to have a good time with it. It wasn't the only activity - it was part of a full day of activities. I will be using your ideas for our Cub Scout summer camp as I am Camp Director.

Disney Tickets are the Treasure

Hi Nikki,

I have just started to go through the manual. I'm not in a hurry. I plan to do the treasure hunt somewhere between now and the end of March.

I'm planning to do the treasure for my two boys because I have 2 tickets for Disneyland and I want to give the tickets to them in a special, fun way.

They don't know anything yet about the Disney trip. I would like to create special memories for the trip and I thought that including a treasure hunt to start with would be a good idea.

I will keep you updated on how it goes, I might have some questions for you though in the near future, I've never put a treasure hunt together before, but I do believe it will be a lot of fun for all of us....

Kind Regards,

8th Birthday party treasure hunt in Poughkeepsie

Hello! I received the download without problems. I am using your guidelines to create a party treasure hunt . We are in Poughkeepsie, NY, USA, the party is for my daughter's 8th birthday.

I am modifying the play (at each station the teams will get a piece of the map that will lead them to the final treasure chest), but think I will use the ideas over again for many parties in the future! I'll let you know how things work out--we're expecting about 20-25 kids, mostly between 5 and 9 yr. old., near the end of this month. Thanks!

We had the party I used the treasure hunt party planner as a guide. I only had one team and had the girls work together. I set up six challenges (using your ideas as guides) the challenges were building a tower out of cups, building a pyramid out of people, writing a birthday limerick, singing a song, perform a play/skit and scramble puzzle. Gospel Summer Camp has treasure hunts for kids galore!

Dear Nikki:

I've downloaded the planner and at first glance, it looks like there are lots of ideas that will work for our event after I tailor them to our needs.

Every July our church puts on a camp called, 'Summer Hummer'. Ages 4- 5 stay only half a day, and each day I need to develop a new treasure hunt because the same children repeat the activities every day.

Ages 6 to 14 stay all day and the treasure hunt will be an activity the age groups participate in once. The groups are divided up, such as: ages 6-7 is one group, ages 8-9 is another, etc. All together there will be close to 900 kids! Wow, that takes my breath away. It's really a blast, kids have a ball and so do the counselors. About 300 counselors participate. There's craft people, snack people, story tellers, water slides, zip lines, luge racers, all sorts of field games: soccer, races, etc.

A theme is established by a company called Gospel Lights where we purchase the course. This year's course is 'Sonforce Kids'. During the week we emphasize a different element of the course. Monday is Trust, based on Exodus 1-2:10: Moses: Boy in a basket.

Tuesday is Unite, based on Esther 2-8: Esther: Queen at risk. Wednesday is Train, based on Daniel 1: Daniel: Servant of God. Thursday is Follow, based on Jeremiah 36-39: Jeremiah: Prophet in trouble. Friday is Lead, based on Numbers 13-14:9: Joshua: Spy in a strange land.

The setting is on a space station full of adventure and high drama leading the children to make good decisions based on the day's Bible stories. I'm going to attempt to fashion clues and puzzles with a space theme.

I'll have some help during the treasure hunt itself, but it will be up to me to figure out all the details and logistics of the hunt. It should be great! Thanks for all you do, you've given me some confidence and the beginning of some ideas to pull this off. I'll keep you posted.

Regards,

Patty Pynch, Washington USA

Running around like crazy at a treasure hunt

Hi Nikki, Thanks for the Treasure Hunt. My son's 8th birthday party was great. All the kids loved the hunt and the last clue was a treasure map that lead to a buried treasure. They all were running around like crazy. My son still talks about it a week later. He wants to do it again next year.

My daughter is having her 16th birthday in November, I am planning to make a treasure hunt for her party.

Planning our treasure hunt

Hi Nikki. I had hoped to get most of the planning done today, but alas, other chores kept us busy today! Well ... that and the great weather!

I'm going to work on it over the next 2 days. I have a few different places I am thinking for burying the treasure. There is a corner spot in our backyard where the grass has died, so I thought that might be a good place. Or, in the front garden.

The party is for younger girls. The oldest will be 8; and I have 2 6 year olds playing. I thought I would draw a fairly simple map - that would probably be easier than a clue I think.

My niece, who is 15, really wants to help me plan everything out. We're going to start tomorrow. I have a gold coloured cake tin that I'm going to use as the 'treasure box' - we're just going to decorate it up a bit more. Once we start the planning, I may have some questions. If I do, I will certainly e-mail you.

I'll also let you know how it all went. I think it is a GREAT idea and my daughter is very excited about it.

Thanks for writing,

Karen

ATV treasure hunt

Nikki,

I was able to get several good ideas for my treasure hunt. I'm putting together a birthday party for my son and two nieces on the last weekend of January, (the 27th & 28th). My son turns 16 on the 20th, one niece turns 18 on the 23rd, and another niece turns 17 on the 26th. This party will consist mostly of teenagers, and their parents with a total group of about 35-40 people. My son and both nieces wanted to invite all their friends who have ATV's, and play games that could involve ATV's. We have a wooded area that consists of about 320 acres, and most attendees will be staying and camping on Saturday night. The treasure hunt seemed like a good idea.

Since most everyone participating will be riding an ATV, I wanted to limit the number of teams to only 3 or 4, with responsible adults leading each group. I need to emphasize that this is not a race because I don't want anyone riding too fast and risk anyone getting injured. Also, only about 1/2 of those attending are familiar with our land. Some of those attending has never even been there before.

At this time, I'm thinking I will probably use GPS coordinates to direct each team from one location to the other. On our property, we have a small pond, we have 4 access gates (chain link), an old cabin with an old outhouse, and several deer hunting stands that would all make for good hiding places. By the way, our party is in East Texas.

Instant treasure hunt one of most successful activities ever done

Nikki -- I adapted the instant treasure hunt for a church building and grounds setting. I had a family night with a dinner, and the after dinner entertainment was the treasure hunt. The parents and kids loved it! It was a BIG hit! After the treasure hunt, I gave my lesson which is that the Bible is full of 'clues' that lead us to the greatest treasure of all -- Jesus. Wish I had some pictures to send, but forgot to bring my camera. I was not sure this would go over well, but the treasure hunt was one of the most successful activities I have ever done with the kids.

Sporting and competitive boys race through treasure hunt

Hi Nikki,

Thanks for all the information and ideas. My son (8y.o.) had his party here yesterday and it went beautifully. I was pleasantly surprised that it took them an hour to do the treasure hunt - I thought they would race through. There were ten boys and they are very sporting and competitive, so this appealed to their competitive nature but took the sporting bit out of it, which was what I wanted.

Thank you for all your help. I am doing the Easter party at school for the children I teach - 5 year olds - adapted a bit as there will be a lot of them. I am also doing it for my nieces and nephews in Australia when we visit them at Easter.
