Plans to have a lot more scavenger hunts

Hi Nikki,

our birthday scavenger hunt was a GREAT success. Your material gave me lots to choose from and I was grateful. I used the treasure map for the invitations and rolled them up to hand out. The list was on the treasure map and it was 8 items to look for or info to find and 8 were photos to take to make memories & proof of it getting done. It was a teen girl team against teen guy team and the playing field was the city of Wichita, KS so they had a certain time to be back complete or not and the one with the most done was the winner. They all came back with wonderful stories and had lots of fun. I learned though that the guy against girl wasn't the best cause the guys were too COOL to do some of the list, but the things they did they had FUN! Whereas if they had mixed teams the girls would have persuaded them into doing everything.

While planning this double birthday party it has prompted other ideas one for our leadership Christmas party at church promoting unity & working together to accomplish a task.

Also I have talked with our the coordinator who is up for the idea of a scavenger hunt during next summer's Family Reunion. Should be loads of fun.

Thanks for the great info! I am going to try to send a photo let me know if it makes it.

13th birthday treasure hunt in East Texas

The treasure hunt party is for my daughters' 13th birthday. It will be the night of October 8th. We are in the East Texas area, Chester to be exact. I plan on starting the party around 5:30 pm; I am hoping for cool weather; with E. Texas you never know. The party will be around our pool, and we have about 15 acres of lawn to use. Because it is her 13th, we are planning to bar-b-q, and of course the kids will swim (weather permitting). I am unsure of guest totals, the minimum will be about 30 kids, and 20 parents.

I would love to include some of the parents on the teams. Safely I figure there will be 42 players, and had considered making 7 teams.

Pirate treasure hunt and picnic

Hi Nikki,

The party is being held on Memorial day week-end, at a local park, for well over 100 people. We are planning to have 2 hunts going at the same time. Captain Dead Legs and Pirates of the Vernon.

After the hunt we are having a large picnic and will ask our guests to bring a blanket for their family's to eat on. It is going to be an introduction for our family and friends to meet the daughter my husband and are planning to adopt this summer. She is 12 but the ages of guests will run the gamut. Thank you for your interest.

Treasure hunt for last day of school

We are planning the hunt for May - the last day of school for my 11 yr old daughter there will be 10-15 children for the hunt and they are very excited!, We have a 75 acre farm so the hunt will keep them busy finding the clues and especially the treasure!

My daughter loves pirates, and the whole concept of treasure hunting, can you give me some more ideas on what to put in the treasure box?

I plan on burying the treasure by an old cabin that's been here since before Oklahoma was a state! I call it blackbeard's haunted hideout! Makes things more interesting for the kids!

School treasure hunt

Hi Nikki, Thank you for your treasure hunt book. We held our treasure hunt a couple of weeks ago and it consisted of 12 groups of 10 year old children, a total of 110 kids. The treasure hunt was a culminating activity of our term's unit 'What is your treasure?' We had 6 stations and made up fun challenges at each stop, the children received a piece of the last puzzle each time they successfully completed a challenge. The teams eventually ended up in the principal's office where they found a spade and a beautifully tea-stained treasure map that directed them to a sand pit on the school property where the treasure was buried. The winning team received the contents of the treasure chest and each participant a love heart with the words 'Where your treasure is, there will be your heart also' Matt 21:6 with a chocolate bar attached to the back. The children absolutely loved the hunt and it was a highlight of the term. Your book was so helpful in setting up the treasure hunt, wh ich was quite complex with so many children involved. We will definitely use all of the tips again when we run the treasure unit next year. Thank you for all of your help and your follow-up emails which ensured the day was a huge success!

Scavenger hunt birthday party in the mall

Hi Nikki,

The Birthday Party was a great success! We had ten 13 year old girls have a pool party at a local hotel. They went racing around the mall on their scavenger hunt. They were very creative and surprised even me when neither team had any of the same objects. One team had an office member go on line to print out a picture of the Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz while the other team grabbed the Dorothy flyer from the lobby. For something yellow one team had a pen and they other went to subway and asked for yellow peppers. They were very respectful of the people in the Mall and made sure they showed them they scavenger hunt booklet. The people in the elevator were all saying Scavenger hunt what a great idea.

People were opening their purses to see what they could give them anything from band aids to hair binders. When each team was done they meet in the Lobby where the joined hands and sang happy birthday as loud as they could. Everyone in the Mall complex and the Hotel were laughing!

The kids had a great time! Thanks,

Treasure hunt kids running around like crazy

Hi Nikki,

Thanks for the Treasure Hunt. My son's 8th birthday party was great. All the kids loved the hunt and the last clue was a treasure map that lead to a buried treasure. They all were running around like crazy. My son still talks about it a week later. He wants to do it again next year.

My daughter is having her 16th birthday in November, I was wondering if I would have access to the site to make a treasure hunt for her party?

Pirate treasure hunt has fantastic feedback

Hi Nikki,

I just wanted to let you know that we had our Pirate Party this past Saturday and had 160 in attendance. We followed your suggestion of only having the 6 stations, making sure to have enough room and supplies for two teams to be at any given port at one time. Because of the size of our party and the broad range of age groups from 4 to 15, we slightly modified the activities at some of the ports, and the party went splendidly following your schedule. Each color team had an arm or headband in their team color and the team carried a team flag which we affixed to 5-ft sticks (so if anyone had to take a break to go to the bathroom they could easily find their team flag when they came back into the room.)

As each guest arrived we gave them their arm/headband based on the child's age, then sent them to the tattoo parlor for a fake tattoo. We had a professional photographer ready to take individual photos, then fed them a nautical lunch of fish sticks, macaroni and cheese, and tator tots, following by dirt cups (choc pudding with crushed Oreo on top and a gummy worm stuck in) and also pirate cookies. Once everyone finished eating, our team leaders held their flags high in the air so all of the participants could find their team and then the fun began.

We gave out a puzzle piece at each port once the team completed each activity, and once they finished all, they put their puzzle together. The little ones' puzzle gave a simple clue to directly go to find their treasure. The older kids puzzle was the first clue in a series of clues that led to their treasure. We had a different treasure location for each color team.

The feedback on Monday at work was unbelievable. Everyone had a fantastic time. The parents loved it too and still say 'ARRRRR' to me every time they pass me at work. Parents said the kids were thrilled with their treasure bags and most did not want to take off their pirate outfits when they got home. Our next party will be a Halloween party in October. I don't know how we are going to top this one!

Our photographer took over 300 pictures at the party and we get them back tomorrow. I can't wait!

A million thanks!

Mall scavenger hunt is very popular

Hi,

We actually had our scavenger hunt this past Friday. I combined several of your ideas and planned a mall scavenger hunt for my daughters birthday (she turned 11). We had pictures and items that had to be found (that you couldn't buy) and some that you had to buy. She and all of her friends had a great time!

The assurance of that came when several of her friends told their mothers they wanted them to plan a scavenger hunt for their birthdays.

Your e-book was amazing. I was worried when my daughter asked me to plan a scavenger hunt as I had never done it before and my mother (who used to plan them for my sister and I) passed away.

So, add me to your testimonials because I am a very satisfied customer and will use your planning book for years to come!

Thanks,

Yard improvement treasure hunt reward

Thanks Nikki,

Yes, I was able to download it and printed it off yesterday. My party is going to be on Sunday, the 3rd of July. I've already started planning the treasure hunt. I live in San Jose, California and my husband and I are throwing a b-b-q for some people that were very involved with the relandscaping of our yard.

It was a huge undertaking and we wanted to give them all a big thank you. So, it'll pretty much be all adults, with the exception of a few little ones (3 and under). We're changing the station names and officers to things that apply to yard work and landscaping. The treasure will be gift certificates for the winners to a local home improvement store.

Please, please, if you have any ideas for me on this theme, let me know . . .

Thanks,

All went smoothly and thoroughly enjoyed by all

We had our picnic with our treasure hunt on Saturday. We had it at a public lake so we had the obstacle of other people. It just made it more interesting.

I was very amazed on how smooth the game went once it was all set up. I had seven teams with ages varying between 4 and 45 and 4 helpers. The hunt was thoroughly enjoyed by all. I used the games in your game set with a few alterations. Below is a picture of the Egyptian mummy game. This was so funny to watch the teams. Everyone had a great time especially the team who won the treasure box with 500 loonies in it!!!!

Thanks for the great game,

Bought three treasure hunts and yours is the best!

Dear Nikki, many thanks. The party is over, and the treasure hunt went well. It was a very nice change from my usual treasure hunts. Good product. I actually bought and downloaded three different hunt games, and yours was by far the best. The calculator worked brilliantly! I changed it to match the combination on the lock which I already had, and it worked like a charm. How long did it take you to work out all the connections so every team would wind up with the same combination?

Thanks again

Subterfuge and excitement at the church treasure hunt!

Nikki,

I decided to bury the treasure right at the edge of the woods on our property.

I've written a clue that will bring the searchers to the map (or final clue). I haven't written the last step of final instruction, but I'm partial to little rhymes rather than maps. I'm sure I'll have no trouble coming up with something once I give it a few minutes.

The party is for the deacon and pastoral staff for my church. I used the idea you gave me to name each station for a city in Paul's journeys.

Here's a fun thing I've added. The guests are aware that there's a church leadership party and they know the date and time, but NOT the location. In fact, they haven't been told who is hosting the party--only that it is a church leadership party.

On the night of the party, they go to a local fountain and bench to meet a man with a black trench coat and hat who will give them a clue that leads them to my house (where the party and hunt will be).

I have reservations from 14 families who have called a cell phone number and left reservations following a message from a voice that isn't mine. People with questions have been directed to the church secretary who is in on the secret and can answer questions or ask me and get back with the guests.

I'm having a ball with it. Thanks, Nikki, for your great ideas and your well-written plan.

Fun putting treasure hunt together

Nikki, just wanted to let you know that my son's birthday party went really well. I had a lot of fun putting the treasure hunt together and the boys enjoyed all the challenges and especially digging up the treasure! All the instructions and the question puzzle were a bit challenging for them even though I modified some of the questions (they were 8 year olds) but they had fun! I used your 'matching items' game to pair up the boys before the treasure hunt started, which worked out well. Thanks for the ideas and putting it all out on 'paper' for me. I will definitely use it for other parties.

You can't have a pirate party without a Treasure Hunt!

Hi Nikki,

We celebrated our son's eleventh birthday with a pirate themed party. Well, you can't have a pirate party without a treasure hunt and we procrastinated a little too long. Your website helped us out tremendously.

We put together a 26 riddle treasure hunt that kept the children engaged and they had a great time searching for the treasure. And your step by step process made it very simple.

Instant Treasure hunt was perfect

We have tried out the game for my son's 6th birthday. It was great! We had three teams of three or four kids and one adult each. I had mixed up the clues and starting points and they all lead to the same end point -- a pirate treasure trunk filled with lots of treasures! The kid's had so much fun. Some of them were readers and had fun reading the clues for the rest of the group. The hunt went from inside the house to outside around the yard, gardens, trees, fences, flower pots, wheel barrow, etc. The Instant Treasure Hunt Game was perfect in helping me with this party activity!

THANKS!

Scavenger hunt planning book is a wonderful resource

Hi Nikki,

What at wonderful resource your scavenger hunt e-book is. The hunt is tonight and I have already spent about three hours prepping with at least 3 more to do. It's raining here so we are keeping game inside the house, on the porch and in the screen in porch too.

The boundaries, rules and age appropriate list were extremely helpful. Our group is ages 8-9 girls. There are 9 girls coming all of whom will be randomly divided into three groups of three. Unfortunately one of the babysitters cancelled last night so I'm now wrestling with three teams and two supervisors.....

Got to go, but I will f/u with news and feedback.. You are amazing to have the care and concern to email me.

I dearly appreciate it.

Scavenger hunt for trustees

Hi Nikki

Thanks for your interest in our scavenger hunt.

We are a small group of trustees for a small Green that was saved from building land. It is now a small haven for wild life in the village of Soulbury in Buckinghamshire England.

We are always looking for fun events on the Green to make people aware that it is there and also to raise some funds for the upkeep of the place.

We love the idea of a scavenger hunt, using nature as our theme. I am reading through all the info you sent and ideas are forming.

I will let you know when we hold the event and how successful it is.

Many thanks

Soccer theme for treasure hunt

Thank you for all of the correspondence! I wanted something different for my daughter's 9th birthday. We will have a big crowd - 24 + adults for the treasure hunt. She is involved in soccer, school, church, neighborhood, etc. so I wanted to include everyone we could. Many thanks for all of your support thus far.

We will be having it at our local community center. So we have access to a large soccer field, playground, basketball and tennis courts. I thought of having the following stations (1) a mummy wrap - wrapping the tallest person in your group; (2) cheerleader stance and hold for 30 seconds, and then I haven't thought much more than that. I want the games to be fun and your suggestions help a lot! There will be a little age different, from 6 - 11 and we drew names for the different groups, so there is a variety in each group. We chose 5 groups - (1) strikers, (2) forwards, (3) mid-fielders, (4) defenders, and (5) goalies. Can you guess what our theme is?

Because of the large crowd we can't make the treasure too extravagant - we're still on a budget.

Many thanks again. Take care,

Family treasure hunt for July 4th Weekend

Dear Nikki,

I received the treasure hunt planner without a problem. I am planning a treasure hunt for the July 4th weekend. My family along with 7 other families with kids are going camping in upstate NY. We have been doing this for a few years now. The kids range in age from 3-15. Last year I planned treasure hunt for them where one clue led to the next clue and so on until the last clue directed the kids to the treasure. The kids loved it so much that they asked for another treasure hunt this year. This year I wanted to make it a little different. I wanted to have the kids do an activity at each station where they would get a clue so your ideas have really helped.

I have changed a few ideas. I want all the kids to work together and not make teams because I don't want it to become a competition. I know 14 kids is a lot to work together but I thought I would give it a try. For example, instead of mummy wrapping one team member I am having each kid mummy wrap another kids arm so everyone will have to be wrapped to move one to another station. I will let you know how it all works out.

Surprise 16th treasure hunt party starts with a kidnap!

I am planning a surprise 16th birthday party with a pirate theme for my daughter. The pirate treasure hunt will take place in a park in Yucaipa, CA. The party is for girls around my daughter's age. I have planned a treasure hunt around the park, enlisted some helpers and plan to 'bury' the treasure in a painted styrofoam chest filled with gifts from the .99 cent store under some bushes. We will begin by kidnapping my daughter from a local ice cream shop and proceed to the park for the treasure hunt. I think it will be great fun and I hope the girls will dress up in pirate garb. If not, I have some props for them. I'll let you know how it went after Friday.

I plan to turn the treasure hunt into an annual community event. I have just purchased your Treasure Hunt Party Game. I love the concept and I have adapted it into my treasure hunt.

Thank you,

Planned it all in 35 minutes!

Nikki,

Thanks for such great ideas. I found your site via Halloween.com and ordered the supplies Halloween morning for a party starting 5:30 that evening.

After setting up the haunted house, cleaning, and preparing the food we had about 35 minutes to plan. Even with such little time to plan the kids went home smiling and telling their parents they had a good time. We didn't get a chance the bury treasure but plan to for our daughter's birthday in the spring. Thanks for a great product and can I email you for ideas for our spring birthday party?

Thanks again.

Treasure hunt product is exceptional

The party this past weekend was a huge success. We had an away sleep-over at our family mountain house and had the treasure hunt on day 2. It went extremely smoothly and the ten girls had a blast! Last week was an insane week and I had little time to prepare, and now that I've done the hunt I feel like I could do it perfectly next time. Your product is exceptional and you truly saved me valuable time and stress!!! I look forward to having another hunt sometime very soon. Thanks so much,

Employees treasure hunt party

Thanks for your interest, Nikki. This party will be for our employees at a summer home. It is in a lakeside community near Lake MI. We have not yet decided whether to make it a pirate theme or not. Purchased both. We will be heading up there on Saturday and will be able to scope it out...

Scavenger hunt in limo

Hello Nikki,

I have read through your scavenger hunt planner and have gotten some good ideas. The party is in Ann Arbor, MI for my daughters 14th birthday this weekend. My husband got a limo to truck 14 girls around. I think I want to go with a photo theme around town. Any thoughts? I'm sure they'll have fun no matter what.

Combination code stops shortcutting of treasure hunt game

I appreciate your service.

I had a New Year's Eve treasure hunt with about 50 young adults from church. Good times! It was a success! I tweaked the hunt so that it was 'global', so the teams were traveling to different world countries, and the challenges ranged from a basketball free-throw challenge (Lithuania) to a suduko challenge (Japan) to creating an encouraging note for our missionary friend in Africa (Tanzania).

An interesting thing happened at the end...one of the more enterprising guys figured out where the treasure map was hidden without having all the clue pieces (i.e., his team hadn't completed the last task, but he still figured out the clue). Thank goodness for the combination code...it saved me from having to make up rules on the spot. He couldn't take the map without having the combination code. As it turned out, another team won instead!

We had a good time...thank you for sharing your organizational skills with all of us!

PS: If I get some photos, I'll email them to you

Treasure hunt in the nude!

Hi Nikki,

You have a great product. We just might be your first customers to conduct our treasure hunt in the nude. Our events calendar had a kids' treasure hunt scheduled for Saturday afternoon. I used some of your ideas to design the hunt, but I am saving the full version for next season when we will have better attendance in the warm weather months. The kids (ages 5,6, & 9) loved it, and I can't wait to put on the full program next year. Thank you.

Writing own rhyming clues for treasure hunt

Hello,

I recently ordered both the treasure hunt and pirate package from you. The material I received helped because this Treasure hunt is for 25 of my two sons close friends ages 12-14, which means the hunt is in a 3 mile area around our neighborhood and the clues (15 in all) need to be challenging.

I drew out 4 maps ( with burned edges !) giving the familiar landmarks different names, i.e... a church is renamed The Holy Ground, the firehouse is named The House of Hose and Ax, a big clay mound located near a baseball field is called Blood Mt.... The teams will have different colored bandannas and each team member will be giving a title and responsibility during the hunt.( I want this to be a team building experience) so..

The Captain holds and read the map, The Scholar is read all the clues out loud and hold on to them, the Pathfinder holds and uses the compass for the team, the Musician plays and holds an instrument (a plastic

flute) when called upon, the 1st Mate?s job is to make sure all rules are followed and to keep the team together.. etc...

Coming up with the clues was very time consuming because I wanted them to be challenging and to rhyme. (The first clue for one of the teams is 'Proceed SW as swift as you can, till thou is standing on sacred land. Get close to the bronze statue made up of three, then search for a clue below the knees' ) Also, the clues couldn't be the same because each team?s path is different and I had to make sure that the distance traveled was fair (there are hills), as well as having them come from a different direction towards the 'treasure', and I walked each path myself.

The treasure is a real wooden chest, a size of a bread box, filled with play jewels and candy. It will be hidden near a bank of rocks under some foliage.

I'm excited for The Hunt to begin and I hope everything goes as planned!! If this turns out to be a big hit among the kids, I might start my own business planning treasure hunts!

Thanks,

Lisa, Alabama USA

Please, please, if you have any ideas for me on this theme, let me know . . .

Thanks

Treasure hunt based on pirates of the Caribbean

Our treasure hunt was based on the pirates of the Caribbean II dead mans chest characters. It was a swarm of fun for all and a huge hit, participants and watchers alike enjoyed the games and puzzles and the treasure at the end!! Thank you for the kit it was a big hit. A lot of work transforming it to my theme on the computer. But so worth it. We had three teams of 3-4 boys ages 11-14.
