Treasure hunt is so creative

Hey Nikki,

The hunt was tonnes of fun, the crowd was 7 and 8 year olds so fairly easy to please. The treasure was a big box of loot bags full of candy, so like I said they were easy to please. Plus the tasks we came up with were fun.

Everyone thinks I am a genius, and I didn't share my secret because I know everyone would said " you paid for a treasure hunt game? You could have thought that up yourself." Which might be true, since I am a creative sort of person, but I was in such a bind, and finding your website so randomly totally saved the day. It's easy to say I could have done this or that, but it is entirely another to actually do it and put it all together like you have. Thank you so much. There were many aspects that I wouldn't have thought of myself.

There were a few adults who seemed like they might be interested in have a scavenger hunt/rally i will definitely be checking your site for anything new and interesting if we get something together. I would love to host something like that, plain old dinner parties are so boring.

Cheers, Beena

PS I will try to get some pics for you soon.

Great treasure hunt invitation ideas

My party is scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd. The party will be held at our cabin at White Rock outside of Fayetteville, Arkansas. We have a large outside area around the cabin where I plan to conduct the party...weather willing:-) The party is for my son's 9th birthday and there will be 8 8-9 year olds attending. I am tying the Treasure Hunt into the Survivor's theme of the party...I haven't completely figured it all out yet but am working diligently to make it a huge success. I have decided that the party invitations will be hand delivered to each child...the invitation will be on vellum paper stained and burned, rolled up and enclosed with sand in a corked bottle! I think it will be really cute!

Treasure hunt is great hit

My treasure hunt was delayed because of sick kids, but when we did have it, it was a hit.

I already knew that I wanted a treasure hunt that was catered to the things my son loved to do most, so in one event we had a task such as each team had to catch 9 consecutively thrown passes before getting the next clue. One was we made a board game with his pictures all over it, and when a teams game piece landed on a certain picture they had a task related to the picture, (a baby picture where everyone had to eat dip n dots with a baby spoon. I took poka dot tissue paper and cut out baby bibs, this was my favorite they made some great party pictures pouting and eating with a tiny spoon.)

Also I used some of your ideas on the pages provided to organize my timming and to get the right kind of helpers, I seemed to refer back to it several times just to make sure I was heading in the right direction. Thank You I am sure I will do it again, kids can never get enough of this KIND OF FUN!

Birthday party treasure hunt

Hi,

We had a birthday party yesterday for nine 8-year old boys and girls. The theme was "Pirates Go Wild" and we took full advantage of the online Instant Treasure Hunt game. We made 6 different clues for each of the 3 teams (used colored armbands to identify the different "crews", labeled them "Blue Bandit Clue #2", etc.) and it went great!

I bought flags, blow-up swords, bandanas, pencils, stickers, "gold" coins, candy, and little clue sets at Diddams (see attached pictures).

The best part happened as each of the teams finished, then went to help the other teams before getting the last clue and shovels with little flags attached. (They had to find the apple tree and figure out that the big flag marked the spot to dig up the treasure box all together.) The kids then divided up the "loot" themselves as their party favors.

I loved the idea of the different puzzles and stations but didn't have other adult helpers and would definitely have needed them to make that work.

Dog themed treasure hunt

Hi Nikki! We had our treasure hunt yesterday. It was awesome. The kids had a blast. Age ranges were from 7 to 10. Since my daughter had a dog theme going, I changed the team names to The Pink Poodles, the Golden Doodles, and the Blue Bulldogs. Kids laughed at the names and were proud to be one of the 3. I also structured the activities you suggested to include the dog theme. For ex, the toilet paper wrapping... I pretended that one person was a hairless dog and the kids needed to put fur on by covering themselves with the toilet paper. Then they would create a furry doggy! Also, instead of a pirate flag, we made a dog flag by putting dog stickers, words to describe puppies, and drew bones. As for the treasure, we actually buried it in our yard and gave them shovels. They had a ball! Not only was it fun for the kids, it was fun for the adults watching the kids run all over the yard to complete the 6 stations.

Thanks so much for a great party idea! This is a keeper!! What a memorable experience!

Family Scavenger Hunt most memorble

Dear Nikki,

I just came home from my scavenger hunt party and wanted to shoot an email to you before I got too busy.

This was the first time anyone in my family participated in a scavenger hunt. The occasion was my father's 75th birthday. Your materials were invaluable in sparking my imagination and setting the ground rules for my game.

Because the participants were all family (ranging from teenagers up through to my 75 y/o dad), I decided to do a "This is Your Life" scavenger hunt. I've attached the details for you. While most of it won't make sense to you, I think you'll get the general idea. I found your materials to be a great source of ideas for me to create my own unique game. I found the structure and rules that you suggested particularly helpful.

I had three teams with 5 people in each team. Everyone had a fantastic time! We downloaded the pictures into one digital album as an added gift for my dad. He said it was the most memorable and wonderful birthday he ever had! Thank you for the great ideas. I can't wait to do the next one!

16th Birthday scavenger hunt

Hi Nikki

We are having a 16th birthday party for my step son . We are having Adults and Teens but only the teens are participating in the scavenger hunt ....

We are breaking the teens into three teams with Captains..... Joe our son will be the first captain who will draw names for the other capts. Then each team captain will draw ..(I believe 6 other team members. Each teen will get a T-shirt which says "Joe 16 Hunt 07. Each Team Capt will be given a back pack which contains the tools to execute the hunt... ie : rules, lists, camera, containers, and bottled water.

I love some of your ideas and they are fun I will list what I have so far (some yours)

1) a 39 cent stamp

2) a can of Fresca or Tab

3) a picture of a past president not President Bush

4) a tablespoon of Cayenne pepper

5) a florescent golf ball

6) a Bellevue score card ( this our golf club it is over one street )

7)Something that makes you smell good

8) Something that tastes sour.... not candy

9) Something that makes you itchy

10) A blue marble

11) A coupon for Laundry detergent

12) 3 ice cubes not melted

13) 16 pennies

I am still coming up with the items I think I will stop at 16 we want to the kids to be out for about an hour or so .... so we can get the cookout going.....

First prize is a $100.00 gift cert to the 99 Restaurant Second Prize is a $50.00 gift certificate and runners up will get massive squirt guns to get the winners.

All the kids are really close so the winning team captain will organize that his/her team will go to dinner with the certificate I want to the items to be easy/creative/ yet challenging so that it is not over in a snap.

Thank you if you have any other ideas ... I like the abstract concepts ... that is when you have fun reviewing the collection they have hunted!

thank you

Treasure hunt will be used again

Nikki,

We had our Treasure Hunt tonight and it was a great success! The occasion was our daughter's 16th birthday party and we wanted to do something different that would also be challenging. There were 3 groups and they all really got into the game. The treasure was a treasure box pinata and because Sara will soon be getting her permit we tried to include a car theme. The treasure map led the winning team to the keys to the car that would unlock the trunk. The prize was found and all the partygoers enjoyed batting at the pinata!

Thanks for guiding us through the process with your great instructions and planning help. We'll certainly use this game again!

All went smoothly and thoroughly enjoyed by all

We had our picnic with our treasure hunt on Saturday. We had it at a public lake so we had the obstacle of other people. It just made it more interesting.

I was very amazed on how smooth the game went once it was all set up. I had seven teams with ages varying between 4 and 45 and 4 helpers. The hunt was thoroughly enjoyed by all. I used the games in your game set with a few alterations. Below is a picture of the Egyptian mummy game. This was so funny to watch the teams. Everyone had a great time especially the team who won the treasure box with 500 loonies in it!!!!

Thanks for the great game,

Scavenger hunt birthday party in the mall

Hi Nikki,

The Birthday Party was a great success! We had ten 13 year old girls have a pool party at a local hotel. They went racing around the mall on their scavenger hunt. They were very creative and surprised even me when neither team had any of the same objects. One team had an office member go on line to print out a picture of the Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz while the other team grabbed the Dorothy flyer from the lobby. For something yellow one team had a pen and they other went to subway and asked for yellow peppers. They were very respectful of the people in the Mall and made sure they showed them they scavenger hunt booklet. The people in the elevator were all saying Scavenger hunt what a great idea.

People were opening their purses to see what they could give them anything from band aids to hair binders. When each team was done they meet in the Lobby where the joined hands and sang happy birthday as loud as they could. Everyone in the Mall complex and the Hotel were laughing!

The kids had a great time! Thanks,

Christmas family party treasure hunt

Hi Nikki,

We downloaded Treasure Hunt last night and are very excited to get started.

Our party is going to be Dec. 22. It is a family party. We live at the beach and our grown daughters our bring their families.

Each family will be a team. Team 1 has two kids-5 & 8, Team 2 has three kids-3,5 & 8 and team 3's kids are 11 & 16. The parents will be the team leaders.

We are trying to come up with age appropriate clues for each. Our other challenge is one team has someone on crutches. ( this team will be hunting their clues at the park. Lots of places to sit!)

My idea is to send each team to a different location to hunt for their clues. ( the park, my sister's big yard, the big field behind our house). All locations are within blocks of each other. Each team collects 6 clues, then they all meet back at our house to put the clues together to solve the puzzle. This will lead them to the treasure. They all dig the treasure up together and share it.

Thank you so much,

Carol Gates, USA

Nikki,

Thanks to you for such a prompt response. I appreciate you taking care of these issues and I look forward to making many more treasure hunts with you. I do apologize for being so particular but as I make most (all) of my hunts for adults, they love to scrutinize my work. I am notorious for spending months on the perfected treasure hunt...

Your treasure hunt generator/program is really terrific. It makes the head work very simple and organized. With a little one around the house (18 months) it is hard for me to find the time to devote to my treasure hunting hobby as before. Thanks again for this time saving tool.

Treasure hunt at family reunion

Dear Nikki,

The treasure hunt is for the family reunion in Charleston, SC. There will be a mixed group of people ranging in ages from infants to 90s. I was thinking about playing the said game on Friday afternoon in the motel area with six groups and each group consisting of six members. The areas that I was considering are the hospitality room, pool area, hallway and the other three areas I don't know where it will be. May be the lobby, and a guest room, etc. In the lobby I will post the last clue (map) behind the brochures. The treasure will be located somewhere out side of the hotel.

Scavenger hunt is welcomed by Mall Management (eventually)

Nikki,

The party started off great until a group of the kids ran into a security guard who insisted that it was against mall policy and would not let them continue. I had already checked the mall website and code of conduct as well as spoke to some of the retail stores so that they knew what was going

on and all were ok with it. I did not call the mall office which I should have done but the stores were very open to the hunt so I saw no reason to do that as well. The security guard would not let me speak to his supervisor nor was there any mall management there on a Saturday. I gave up and took

the kids bowling but the kids loved the idea and insisted on figuring out the clues that they had not gotten to yet. I have since spoken to mall management, it was not against mall policy and they are sending out apologies to all kids involved as well as rescheduling the hunt and giving the kids gift cards and other things to help make up for the rude, stupid security guard.

Here is a list of the clues and activities that they were supposed to do. I had made a scrapbook with the clues in it for each kid and left places for the pictures that they were supposed to take during the hunt. There were 4 groups of kids and each group had the same clues for the first half of the

hunt but were all in a different order so that they would not be running into each other and such. We were meeting halfway and switching teams so that they could hang out with different kids for the second part of the hunt. The kids loved it and were very disappointed with the security guard (he is no longer employed there as well).

Your information helped me stay organized and I do appreciate it!

Thanks,
