The scavenger hunt was great! We gave each team good neighbor cards. They gave them to the homeowner. It basically said, 'If we were courteous to you and your property, call this number and tell them our team name.' for each phone call, they received one 'good Neighbor' point. The team with the most points won a prize! It worked great. The whole neighborhood gave them so many compliments. Since they were 12 and 13, we had to come up with ways to make sure they were nice. And it worked. In their sacks they had a flashlight, a map of the neighborhood, a marker, a notepad, tape, and either a cell phone or a walkie-talkie.
I am attaching our final list. We have a huge candy bar for the team with the most points. Gum for the best turkey. Silly String for the silliest poem. Cotton candy for the sweetest good deed. Diapers filled with candy for the best babysitter stuff.
My sister lives across the street, and she took all the little brothers and sisters, and had an indoor scavenger hunt with them! Fun!
They all had fun! And, the parents had a great time! While they were gone, we had time to build a fire and go get the pizza. Perfect! Thank you for all your help!
